Gardens are often collaborative efforts, and my wife Sally and I have a fascinating four-hectare property and is the result of 40 years of collaboration, with husband and wife honing their individual artistic talents in tandem as they developed it.
My late wife Sally’s creative journey has mainly been in the garden while John’s has encompassed the design of the house, the garden and more recently the many sculptural artworks that are now a striking feature of the landscape.
Red and pink hydrangeas, and Japanese maples are edged with sinuous hedges of immaculately trimmed buxus.
Rosa ‘Cecile Brunner’, red-leaved persicaria and other perennials. At the end of the lawn, another of John’s works makes an arresting totem.
John’s first artwork in the circular lawn.
The buxus hedges of the semi-formal garden frame the contrasting colours of the Japanese maple and dark-leaved yews.
John also made three lily ponds from recycled materials.

The bromeliad water cascade designed and crafted by John Woodham from recycled materials is the star of the front garden.
